City of Oceanside Will Have One of the Nation\u2019s Fastest Open Access Fiber Networks to Deliver up to 10 Gbps, Among Fastest Speeds in U.S.<\/p>\n
OCEANSIDE, Calif. \u2013 (Thursday, November 2, 2023) <\/strong>At a press conference this afternoon, officials from SiFi Networks and the City of Oceanside announced the official construction launch of the Oceanside FiberCity\u00ae project, a revolutionary fiberoptic infrastructure investment that aims to bring a fast, affordable, and reliable all-fiber internet network to homes, businesses, and institutions in the city. City of Oceanside Mayor Esther Sanchez and Marcus Bowman, Community Relations Manager, SiFi Networks explained that the circa $120 million project, which is being funded privately, aims to provide more than 70,000 households, businesses, and institutions with speeds up to 10 Gbps enabled (Gigabits per second)\u2014eliminating buffering and internet slowdowns\u2014among the fastest residential internet speeds available in the United States.<\/p>\n Notably, the Oceanside FiberCity\u00ae project will be an Open Access network, a successful model in other regions of the U.S. and across Europe. Open Access allows fiber infrastructure to be shared by multiple service providers, whether that be internet, wireless, or other services, thereby delivering the fastest speeds at the most competitive prices to the consumer. Like all SiFi Networks fiber builds in the U.S., the Oceanside FiberCity\u00ae project will be constructed at no cost or risk to taxpayers.<\/p>\n
