Wednesday, June 18, 2014

On the 21st November, Matt Finch, buyer for Pickstock Construction will undertake the biggest challenge of his life. Matt will trek 13 days to Everest Base Camp.

Matt is taking on this challenge to raise money for a charity close to his heart, Diabetes UK. The charity cares for, connects with and campaigns on behalf of every person affected by or at risk of diabetes.  Diabetes UK help people manage their diabetes effectively by providing information, advice and support, and they campaign to improve the quality of care across the UK’s health services.

Matt chose Diabetes UK as his nominated charity due to his Dad having diabetes for the past ten years, and his uncle was diagnosed three years ago. Matt will trek to Base Camp with a friend and 12 others raising money for their selected charities.

Matt has been preparing by trekking most weekends over some the UK’s toughest terrains including Snowdon and Yorkshire’s three peaks. He has also been taking part in half marathons in order to increase his fitness.

Matt commented “I am really looking forward to the challenge, I have been training hard but am under no illusion, this will be the hardest thing I have done, or ever will do” Matt added “Diabetes UK is a charity close to my heart and it will be well worth it.”

Matt would like to raise as much money as possible, if you would like to donate, no matter how little, you can do so by visiting Matt’s Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/matthew-finch3 or you can text 70070 MATF67 and the amount you wish to donate.
