Farmington Area FiberCity®, MIFrequently Asked Questions

  • Who is SiFi Networks?

SiFi Networks is an international network developer, who funds, builds and operates community wide state of the art fiber networks enabling Internet Service Providers to deliver next generation applications including superfast internet, video and phone.

  • Who is the Internet Service Provider?

T-Mobile Fiber is bringing blazing-fast internet to residential and single-family homes in Farmington and Farmington Hills! You can check availability and learn more at T-mobilefiber.com/city/farmington-area

  • Are tax payer's dollars paying for this?

No. This is a privately funded project with no tax payer’s dollars used.

  • Will fiber be available to every neighborhood in Farmington Hills and Farmington?

Once the network is complete fiber will be available to every neighborhood in Farmington Hills and Farmington. If you live in a private development your housing association or landlord may need to provide us with additional permissions before we can bring services in.

  • How is the project being built?

In most cases we will conduct work in the public right of way’s greenbelt area in front of properties. Using a dirt trench machine, a temporary trench will be created between the curb/edge of the pavement and edge of the public right of way. Crews will bore under the driveways to enable installation of the fiber conduit. The trench will be restored using soil and by dispersing grass seed and laying straw matting on top.

  • How can I help the restoration process?

Once restoration has been completed, residents are encouraged to water the area covered by the straw matting. The straw matting can be removed once the grass has grown to about 3-4 inches, which could take approximately 14 to 30 days or even up to 60 days. For a short period of time the grass may also appear different from other grass in the area.

  • How do I know when construction is going to happen in my street?

You will receive a door hanger as notice of construction. We kindly ask that you be aware of signs notifying of any parking restrictions that may apply, as well as any traffic control that is in place.

  • Are you building on my property?

No. We will be building in the public right-of-way, in most cases, near or at the edge of your property line.

  • When can I expect my property to be installed with fiber?

Fiber will become live across the city in phases. Please register your interest with us at farmingtonareafibercity.com and we will notify you of your internet service provider.

  • I have a question about construction who do i contact?
