Seeking a reliable and proactive legal professional with a minimum of three years of experience in an in-house or law office role. This role will be heavily involved in litigation, claims, and disputes so prior litigation experience is preferred along with any background related to insurance compliance. Primary responsibilities will be to support the Legal Department and outside counsel in ongoing and new litigation, disputes and claims. The position will also support the Legal Department and their growing volume of contracts and transactions with related diligence, record keeping and administration. An ideal candidate is reliable, trustworthy, organized, professional, responsible, self-motivated, driven, with strong work ethic, demonstrates the ability to work under pressure, and possesses great communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interfaces with in-house and outside counsel, business stakeholders, and other sources to collect, compile, and summarize legal, factual, and technical documents and files, including documents received from witnesses and business units for use in legal matters by our outside counsel or other sources and vice versa.
- Tracks and monitors active cases and claims as needed.
- Manages calendars, docket systems, and assists in meeting deadlines.
- Drafts and/or proofreads legal documents including, but not limited to, basic correspondence, declarations, subpoena responses and other discovery related materials.
- Assists in the identification of relevant subject matter experts within the company and the collection of information and documents from such individuals for use in case matters and responding to discovery requests.
- Manages and works with outside vendors regarding e-discovery.
- Prepares for and participates in witness meetings, collecting relevant information from such meetings.
- Preparation and organization of files, formatting documents and spreadsheets, reports and summaries
- Computer and file storage searches
- Filing/recording documents with various state, federal, and local governing bodies
- Proactively keep track of actual or potential contract issues and notify management
- Providing administrative support for the Legal Department
- Assist with corporate law and entity administration
- Perform legal and contract research
- Handles/manages notarization, filing, mailing and receipt of documents
- Any other matters assigned by Legal department management
Qualifications & Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in a relevant discipline with strong academic performance and Notary Public preferred but not required
- Strong verbal, written, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to think critically and analytically
- Careful attention to detail
- Self-motivated
- 3+ Years of relevant professional work experience
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office and SharePoint
