Escondido is one step closer to a fully connected future as the Escondido FiberCity® initiative hits a major milestone: over 600,000 feet, nearly 113 miles, of fiber-optic cables have now been laid across the city. This progress marks a significant leap forward in delivering high-speed internet access to every corner of the community.

SiFi Networks and Viasat are teaming up to bring advanced fiber optic internet to Escondido. SiFi Networks is spearheading the construction and operation of this open-access network, and Viasat will offer internet services and support to homes and businesses through Viasat Fiber.

Once live, the Escondido FiberCity® network will give all homes and businesses access to high-speed, reliable internet while supporting a wide array of modern applications—including public safety systems, remote learning and work as well as emerging technologies like AI-powered services.

“We’re not just laying fiber—we’re laying the foundation for Escondido’s digital future,” said Christopher Melendez, Project Manager. “With over 600,000 feet of fiber installed, this project reflects our long-term commitment to delivering innovation and connectivity for all.”

The Escondido FiberCity® project is a key part of expanding equitable access to internet services across the city. It’s built to meet today’s digital demands while equipping the city to embrace tomorrow’s technologies.
