  • I am a tenant, how do I get fiber?

    If you are a tenant it is important that you notify your landlord/property manager to let them know you want fiber. Get your neighbors involved too and create demand!

    We will need to speak to the landlord/property manager to get their permission to bring fiber to your building  Visit our tenant page for more information.

  • Are tax payer's dollars paying for this?

    No. This is a privately funded project with no tax payer’s dollars used.

  • Will fiber be available to every neighborhood in Rockford?

    Once the network is complete fiber will be available to every neighborhood in Rockford. If you live in a private development your housing association or landlord may need to provide us with additional permissions before we can bring services in.

  • What is a Fiber optic network?

    Fiber optic networks enable superfast internet, television and phone services to their subscribers upto 50 times faster than the average household in the USA. They also enable numerous next generation services as well as Smart City infrastructure like smart healthcare and education, traffic lights, parking, waste water and many other features which are beneficial to a municipality.

  • How is the project being built?

    You’ll see fiber cable being buried in either a small incision at the side of the roadway, or in the parkway behind the curb or next to the sidewalk.

  • How is the parkway restored?

    Once the conduit has been laid in the trench, we refill it with soil and lay grass seeds and straw matting. Once restoration has been completed, we would encourage you to water the area covered by the straw matting.  The matting can be removed and disposed of once grass has grown to about 3-4”.  Grass could start growing between 14 and 30 days but could take up to 60 days.
