After several months of negotiation between SiFi Networks and Fullerton City Council, an agreement has been reached to use SiFi Networks’ FOCUS™ system to build a FiberCity™ , a city wide fiber optic cable infrastructure that creates a platform for next generation services and Gigabit internet connectivity to be delivered to any premise.
Gary Graves, Chair, Economic Development Commissioner of the City of Fullerton commented “By providing faster access to the internet, our city will be well positioned for economic growth, job creation, education, a better quality of life for our citizens, its businesses and the next generation growing up in our city. This is a great public/private partnership with benefits for all parties.”
Fullerton is the second Californian city that has approved SiFi Networks’ FiberCity™ agreements this year. SiFi Networks is now encouraging Fullerton’s residents, businesses and institutions to register their interest and provide feedback on receiving superfast broadband and next generation services by filling out a short form on their website www.sifiredesign.client-dev-site.co.uk/cities/fullerton-ca/
With Fullerton’s many schools and higher education institutions, city officials are well aware that providing the latest technology is vital to the sustainability and growth of their education sector. Providing faster internet speeds allows better access to learning resources and materials, thus opening up new opportunities.
Furthermore, as better connected and increasingly data hungry devices become common place at home and in the workplace, and data heavy applications such as cloud based facilities are increasingly utilized, a future-proofed fiber optic infrastructure deployment is imperative to exceed the bandwidth demands of today, in readiness for the future.
Therefore, SiFi Networks propose to fund and build a specifically designed fiber optic cable infrastructure throughout the City of Fullerton, which will utilize SiFi Networks’ FOCUS™ system, a collection of proprietary and non-proprietary construction techniques that drives down the overall capital build cost of a FiberCity™ creating an environment where service providers are offered low cost access rates to the network, which in turn enables them to offer highly competitive retail pricing to the public.
Scott Bradshaw, President SiFi Networks America commented “Recognizing the need for a fiber-optic network in Fullerton demonstrates the city’s plan to foster innovation, drive job creation and stimulate economic growth.” Scott added “Implementing such a network will place Fullerton ahead of neighboring cities in terms of technological capabilities, enhancing their attractiveness to potential new residents and businesses.”
SiFi Networks is an infrastructure enabler and not an ISP (Internet Service Provider) and is therefore working with ISPs that have an interest in providing one or many services over the FiberCity™ network to residents, businesses and all other entities throughout Fullerton at competitive rates. Doug Chaffee, Mayor, City of Fullerton commented “We are excited to bring SiFi Networks into our fabulous city of Fullerton. The idea of having high speed internet throughout our city will enhance our reputation of being a fabulous place to live, to work and to enjoy.”
