Rockford FiberCity® DigiLibrary Continues to Expand Digital Access Across the Community
Since its launch by Rockford Public Library (RPL) in October 2024, Rockford FiberCity®’s DigiLibrary has grown into a thriving mobile resource for the library, providing essential technology, education, and digital tools to those that are without access. By bringing services directly into neighborhoods, the DigiLibrary is removing barriers and providing opportunity.
“Our donation of the DigiLibrary and its digital equipment was intended to have long-lasting impact, empowering learners, expanding access to knowledge, and supporting sustainable digital education for years to come.” Commented Hayley Jones Marketing Manager SiFi Networks. “With the ongoing buildout of Rockford FiberCity®’s citywide fiber network, delivering some of the fastest speeds in the nation, this partnership with the library highlights a shared mission to close the digital divide and expand access across Rockford.” Added Hayley.
The mobile learning center is equipped with 36 Chromebooks and high-speed internet. This enables RPL staff to provide hands-on digital literacy programming for all ages, from coding and technology exploration for youth to resume writing, job searching, and online skills support for adults.
To help residents stay informed and engaged, Rockford Public Library has launched a dedicated DigiLibrary webpage. Community members can visit
https://www.rockfordpubliclibrary.org/digi-library/ to learn more about the DigiLibrary, find out where it will be next, and discover how to utilize its programs and services.
The DigiLibrary continues to demonstrate how strong partnerships and innovative solutions can expand opportunity, connection, and access for communities across Rockford.
