Yuba City CA Looks Towards Its Digital Future

Yuba City

Monday, September 20, 2021

Yuba City has become the latest city to give SiFi Networks permission to its public right of ways, to construct a FiberCity® network.

SiFi Networks will privately fund, build and operate the open access, citywide, multi-gigabit fiber network which will be built through every street in the city. The citywide infrastructure will help close the digital divide and provide reliable, superfast fiber speed broadband to homes and businesses.

The network’s open access platform will allow multiple internet service providers to access the network, stimulating competition which brings choice, better prices and great customer service.

Mayor Marc Boomgaarden commented “We are excited to offer a fiber optic network solution to our community via SiFi Networks. This an important step for the future growth and prosperity of our residents and businesses.”

The network will be the backbone of the city which can help boost economic development by retaining and attracting businesses, creating new business districts and hubs for innovation.

Dave Vaughn, City Manager commented “Our partnership with SiFi Networks will boost the City’s technology infrastructure and strengthen our ability to retain and attract businesses, jobs, and enhance the quality of life for Yuba City residents.”

The network will also enable Yuba City to implement Smart City applications to help improve e-health and e-education for example and create more efficient public services.

“The Yuba City FiberCity® will be a sustainable network built to support the existing and future digital demands of the city and futureproof Yuba City for generations to come.” Commented Scott Bradshaw, President SiFi Networks.”

Residents and businesses in Yuba City can register their interest in the FiberCity® now for updates on the project.

Yuba City is the eighth city in the state of California to sign up to SiFi Networks’ FiberCity®.  SiFi Networks is currently building FiberCities® in the state in Fullerton and Placentia.
